Producer Information
Vins et Vignobles Dourthe is a Bordeaux wine company, producing a full range of Bordeaux AOC and sub-regional wines under its own label and from its portfolio of chteaux. It was founded in 1840 and has grown to include mulitple chteaux, the first of which, Chteau Belgrave, was acquired in 1979. Today it also owns and manages a range of additional properties, including Chteau La Garde, Chteau le Boscq and Chteau Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac. From its own portfolio, Dourthe is perhaps best known for the Dourthe No. 1 white wine, a benchmark Bordeaux blanc that was first produced in 1988, and Essence De Dourthe, a red wine produced with fruit from the company's top chteaux. Dourthe has been owned by Thinot Bordeaux-Champagnes since 2007. The company manages more than 500 hectares (1236 acres) of vineyard land spanning multiple appellations within Bordeaux including the Haut-Mdoc, Pessac-Lognan, Saint-milion, Graves, Loupiac, Cadillac-Ctes de Bordeaux and Sauternes. The top estate, Chteau Belgrave, is a Grand Cru Class located in the Haut-Mdoc and has 59ha (146 acres) of vineyard land.
